How does the colour temperature of the torch come from?

How does the colour temperature of the torch come from?

Body temperature refers to the "temperature of the body" and water temperature refers to the "temperature of water". What about "colour temperature"? Everyone often sees the value of the colour temperature in the torch manual, so many people ask, does the colour also have a temperature? What exactly is colour temperature?

So let's look into what we mean by Colour Temperature.

To expressing the colour temperature in general terms we use the words “cool and warm colour“. it can also be accurate to an value. This precise value is a unit of measurement that indicates the colour components contained in light.

01

Why use temperature to define colour?

To expressing the colour temperature in general terms we use the words “cool and warm colour“. it can also be accurate to an value. This precise value is a unit of measurement that indicates the colour components contained in light.

For example, a piece of iron is black at first, and turns red as the temperature rises, but at the same time we found that the flame of a higher temperature than the molten iron is white and slightly bluish in colour. This proves that different temperatures will emit different colours of light.

When heated to a certain temperature, the spectral component of the light emitted by the black body is called the colour temperature at this degree, and the unit of measurement is "K" (Kelvin).

Then, just like the light emitted by our torches, which has the same spectral composition as the light emitted by a black body at a certain temperature, it is called by a K colour temperature. For example, the colour temperature of the light source of Warrior X Turbo is between 6000~6700K.

02

What is the colour temperature of common light colours?

Generally, LEDs have cool white light (colour temperature around 6500K), medium white light (colour temperature around 4000K), and warm white light (colour temperature below 3000K). Different colours correspond to different colour temperatures. The colour temperature does not indicate the performance of the light source.

Colour temperature is calibrated by this method, and is exactly the opposite of what the general public thinks of "warm" and "cold". For example, people usually feel that red, orange, and yellow are warmer, white and blue are cooler, but the colour temperature of red is actually The lowest and then gradually increase are orange, yellow, white, and blue, with blue being the highest colour temperature.

The light with a low colour temperature is yellowish, such as incandescent light, about 2800K, and the lamp with high colour temperature is blue, such as a purple lamp, above 9000K.

03

Different colour temperatures, different applicable scenes.

Warm light

The colour temperature of warm light is below 3300K, and warm light is similar to incandescent lamps. The warm white light of the Obulb is a warm atmospheric light that has a colour temperature of 2700K. The colour temperature of a candlelight is around 2000K so we can see how similar these two light sources are.

There are more red light components, which can give you a feeling of warmth, health, comfort, and rest. These are suitable for our Homes, Hotels, dormitories and other places or places where the colour temperature is relatively low; falling asleep with warm colour light is more stable and comfortable.

Neutral

The colour temperature of neutral light is between 3300K-5000K and is a soft light. The colour temperature of the Olantern Mini is 5000K, and the light effect is soft and uniform.  It is very suitable for a camping trip. Or in case of power outages at home the Olantern Mini light offers security and reassurance.

Cool light

The light source is close to natural light, and the colour temperature is above 5000K, which is bright and can help people concentrate. Often in tactical torches, the demand for colour temperature will be a cool white light. The colour temperature of the Warrior mini 2 reaches 6000~7000K, and with high luminous flux, it can be seen more clearly and accurately, which can help with identifying an object in the dark.

The strong white light irradiation is as large and uniform as daylight, which can suppress and interfere with the enemy, and at the same time expose the danger hidden in the dark, see more clearly and comprehensively, and further protect your personal safety.

Now, do you have a recognition of the colour temperature of the torch? If not, stay in our blog, more torches introduction or professional knowledge will be posted.

UEFA Euro 2020 Giveaway: Who Will Lift the Trophy?

UEFA Euro 2020 Giveaway: Who Will Lift the Trophy?

After 42 matches among the 24 best teams in Europe, two remain standing. The 16th edition of the European Championship, Euro 2020, began on June 11 with matches in 11 major cities across Europe. Italy and England will face off for the continental crown. England have qualified for their first major Final since 1966 and Italy is into its fourth final and will be hoping to add to its only title won in 1968. The big game between Italy and England will take place at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, July 11, one month after the opening game at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. So who will be the champion? Tell us your prediction and you could be in with a chance of winning some Olight goodies!!

        England's route to the final
        Group D
        13 June: 1-0 Croatia
        18 June: 0-0 Scotland
        22 June: 1-0 Czech Republic

        Last 16
        29 June: 2-0 Germany

        Quarter-finals
        03 July: 4-0 Ukraine

        Semi-finals
        07 July: 2-1 Denmark (AET)

Not since that famous extra-time success over West Germany in 1966 have the Three Lions even won a major Final, with painful near misses at the World Cups of 1990 and 2018.

But Gareth Southgate has now led England into an exciting new era with a young squad bursting with talent and depth and largely free of the burdens and heavy expectations of the past, with captain Harry Kane’s extra-time goal - the rebound from his own saved penalty - defeating Denmark in the semis after Simon Kjaer’s own goal had cancelled out Mikkel Damsgaard’s stunning free-kick.

Before that, there was the quarter-final thrashing of Ukraine in Rome, the historic last-16 defeat of Germany at Wembley and efficient victories over Croatia and the Czech Republic that secured top spot in Group D.

This time, England will hope to end their major tournament trophy drought of 55 years when they take on Italy in the final of Euro 2020 on Sunday at Wembley.

         Italy's route to the final
        Group A
        11 June: 3-0 Turkey
        16 June: 3-0 Switzerland
        20 June: 1-0 Wales

        Last 16
        26 June: 2-1 Austria (AET)

        Quarter-finals
        02 July: 2-1 Belgium

        Semi-finals
        06 July: 1-1 Spain (4-2 pens)

This is Italy’s tenth major tournament final (six World Cup, four EURO), with only Germany (14) having played in more among European nations. Italy won the European Championship in 1968, but have lost their subsequent two final appearances in the competition (2000 and 2012).
This time, they have exceeded expectations by playing the most exciting style of football and finished first in the group stage points table. They are now a strong contender to win the UEFA Euro 2020 championship after eliminating Belgium and Spain int the knockout stage.
Italy have shown their real potential in the knockout stages, but they will have to compete hard against England, who are currently in excellent form. One thing is certain, they will make it tough for England in the final.
Led by central defender Giorgio Chiellini, Italy have several real match-winners, like goalkeeper Donnarumma, attacker Insigne, and midfielders Locatelli adn Marco Verratti. They must all play well to win their second European Championship.

My Impressions

Beam Quality

As with all the Olight torches that I have tested - the Warrior Mini 2 has an excellent, well-balanced uniform beam - providing good throw to see things in the distance and equally good flood for near objects.

1750 lumens

500 lumens

The Olight Warrior Mini is an excellent all round tactical torch and the Warrior Mini 2 is even better..

It's slightly heavier and slightly longer than its predecessor, but not by much... it's still extremely portable and the improved brightness and throw more than make up for the increase in weight and size.

In addition to this there are new features, such as the proximity sensor and detachable lanyard.

500 lumens will be bright enough for the majority of outdoor activities and a runtime of 218 minutes at that level before needing a re-charge is very good.

And of course, if you do find yourself needing more light - then you've got a whopping 1750 lumens to hand too!

Warrior Mini 2 - The New Benchmark For Tactical EDC Lights

Warrior Mini 2 - The New Benchmark For Tactical EDC Lights

Uncover the "mysterious veil" of the Warrior Mini 2

The New Benchmark for Tactical EDC Lights

Your sidekick in the darkest hours, the newest addition to the legendary Olight Warrior Series!

The Warrior Mini 2 is the brand-new upgraded version of the previous Warrior Mini. Weighing in at just 4.3oz/122g (Including the Battery, Pocket Clip, Lanyard Clip ) and a length of 118 mm, the only thing that isn’t big about the WM 2 is it’s size.

As the new generation of the Warrior Mini, the Warrior Mini 2 has a maximum output of 1,750 lumens with a 220-meter beam distance. 17% brighter and 16% further throw than the previous Warrior Mini. Max 1750 lumens and storbe are best for self-defense. 220-meter beam throw can reach around 2 football filed.IPX8 class waterproof (2 meters underwater for half an hour without concern), and a 1.5-meter drop. It is a tactical EDC torch with excellent overall performance. Packed with features: refined strike bezel, battery level indicator, lockout mode, IPX8 waterproof rating, and so much more!

The three-level battery indicator shows the battery level and when to charge, and the customised 3500mAh 18650 battery charges with the MCC3 magnetic charging cable. In addition, the included carabiner-style ring (not for climbing) is added for enhanced portability, providing the user with a choice of carry options.

It can be fully charged in as quick as 3.5 hours. Thanks to the large capacity battery and well designed output levels, the Warrior Mini 2 can last continuously for up to 45 days(1080 hours) without needing a charge!

Enhanced User Safety

Ready when you need it, safe when you don’t

Its newly adopted proximity sensor drops the brightness level proactively in case of obstruction. This smart safety feature doesn’t stop there though, if the proximity sensor detects an obstruction not only will it drop the output but after 1 minute of being obstructed it will automatically turn off, providing active safety protection.

Warrior mini 2, Pierce the darkness for you and also let the safety accompany you!

Is the Built-in proximity sensor that drops brightness just to eliminate heat hazards?

Then you really underestimate it.

The Warrior Mini 2 also reduces ambient light damage to the eyes, reduces power consumption, and improves battery life.

Dual Switches

The sense of security must always be on

The Warrior mini 2 can be operated independently with the side switch and a dual-stage tail switch, both switches can be used when the torch is in standard or tactical mode.

The side switch: With 5 different brightness levels send a strobe mode, you can change your output to get exactly the right amount of light for every situation.

The tail switch: In standard mode, a light press on the tail switch will give you a low light output, and a full press will activate turbo mode (or the highest available output mode available, depending on battery level)

In tactical mode, a light press will activate turbo mode (or the highest available output mode available, depending on battery level) and a full press will give you a high output strobe mode. Both are momentary, so when you release the torch will turn off.

The upgrades aren’t just on the outside, the internal circuit boards and design of the tail switch have been upgraded too, removing the chance of the torch accidentally coming on when in contact with metal.

Lock out mode remains a prominent feature of this light. Simply long-press the side switch, and the torch will enter lock out mode, from here the user can’t accidentally turn the torch on by pressing the switch against something or rumbling for keys etc in your pocket.

New Ways to Carry

Popular features among the EDC community remain the helpful battery level indicator and two-way pocket clip, plus a refined strike bezel. New this time, is a detachable lanyard clip, the ability to remove the lanyard clip and swap your pocket clip to the bottom groove, allows for the very popular ‘bezel down’ carry option.

Included with the WM 2 is a carabiner-style ring (not for climbing) with a load capacity of 5kg, this handy little ring can be attached to the lanyard clip to secure the torch to your pack, jacket etc. The Magnetic tail switch also allows you to place your Warrior Mini 2 on almost any metal surface, letting you free up your hands.

A Brand New Portable Option for You
