The seeker series has always been loved by our customers. After several generations of innovation and upgrades, the latest seeker product is Seeker 3 Pro, which has attracted much attention since it came out in September 2021 and has also achieved a good performance. With only 4 months of sales, it has become the second in the Top 3 Best Selling in 2021. This is enough to prove how much it is loved and its excellence. Below we will compare it with a previous product, Seeker 3, to see why it is so popular. Of course, Seeker 3 is also a very good torch and they are suitable for different people.

The comparison will consist of four parts: basic performance, appearance, functions, and other details.

1. Basic Performance

It is believed that lumen and runtime are the most important indicators that the majority of people will refer to when they want to buy a torch. Lumens directly affect our usage scenarios and we would prefer our torch to have a longer runtime. Let's look at the table below to intuitively feel the difference in these data between Seeker 3 and Seeker 3 Pro under different lighting modes.

From the table above, we can see that there are too many differences between the patterns of Seeker 3 and Seeker 3 Pro. The main difference is the maximum lumen and the runtime in different modes. The maximum lumens of Seeker 3 Pro is 4200 lumens and Seeker 3 is 3500 lumens. With similar or better runtime, the Seeker 3 Pro is much brighter and farther away. In mode 2 to 5, the runtime and max throw of Seeker 3 Pro are both better than Seeker 3.

2. Appearance

Here is some data for reference.

They are very similar in size and weight, both weighing about 3 eggs. We can see that the most obvious differences between them in appearance are the finger grooves and switch. Seeker 3 features bamboo-like finger grooves, while Seeker 3 Pro features dermatoglyphic silicone finger grooves. Both of them are bringing a refreshing look and a comfortable grip. However, the operation buttons are very different. The Seeker 3 features a push-button with a three-colour battery indicator at the center but Seeker 3 Pro owns a rotary knob with the simple indicator dashboard. Long-press the rotary knob to access 4 brightness levels or rotate it for stepless dimming. Read the brightness level and battery level through the eight indicator lights.

3. Functions

Both of them can achieve active thermal management. When they're in turbo mode for two minutes and thirty seconds, they automatically drop to 1200 lumens to prevent the torch from overheating and causing danger or damage.

They both have an auto-lock feature that prevents accidental activation when the torch has not been used for a while. But the methods of unlocking are different. You need to rotate the switch over 90°to unlock Seeker 3 Pro but hold down the button for over 2 seconds while the light is turned off to unlock Seeker 3.

Also, they have a memory function, every time you turn on your torch, it will be the last mode you used, but the strobe mode will not be memorized.

Then it is a newly upgraded feature of Seeker 3 Pro, the proximity sensor. If the head of the torch is too close to the object when the torch is in the third or higher mode, it will automatically reduce the output, to avoid the danger of overheating. However, to keep the sensor working properly, keep the lens clean and free of water or dirt. And any scratches on the lens can trigger it.

We can see that they both have four Osram high high-performance LEDs and the body material is aviation aluminum alloy. With 5-year warranty, IPX8 water-resistance, and 1.5m-drop test, they have Olight's ultra-high quality and warranty. They are excellent torches indeed. The difference is that the battery of the seeker 3 Pro is 3.6V 5000mAh 21700 Lithium-ion Battery but that of Seeker 3 is 3.6V 4000mAh 21700 Lithium-ion Battery. However, they both charge with the MCC3 magnetic charging cable which allows for up to 2A charging current.

Overall, both Seeker 3 Pro and Seeker 3 are very outstanding torches. The Seeker 3 is simple and practical, with all the basic functions, and both lumens and runtime can meet most daily needs. The Seeker 3 Pro has achieved more functions and better performance on this basis. In terms of price, the Seeker 3 is £109.95 and the Seeker 3 Pro is £139.95. You can choose your torch according to your expected price and needs. Either way, they're both worth their price.
