My Impressions
♦ Beam Quality
The Beam is excellent and very balanced – providing an excellent throw and good flood for near.
♦ Charging
Charging occurs via Olight’s signature magnetic charging cable. The Perun 2, however, uses an upgraded MCC3 cable that gives a charging current of up to 2A – this provides an increased charging speed of 33% over the original Olight charging cable.
♦ Power Button
The power button is located at the top of the torch and is tilted to make operation easy in the dark.
The torch can be locked by holding down the power button for a few seconds, holding it down again unlocks it.
♦ Modes
The different modes can be accessed by pressing down the power button while the torch is on – this will cycle through modes 2-4.
Double-tapping the power button will activate mode 1.
Mode 5 can be activated by holding down the power button for one second while the torch is off.
SOS mode is activated by triple tapping the power button.
♦ Proximity Sensor
This is a new feature to Olight torches and is located at the top of the lens.
When the proximity sensor detects an obstruction nearby, the brightness will automatically reduce – if the blockage continues for more than 60 seconds, then the light will switch off.
♦ Head Mount
The Perun 2 can be converted into a head-torch using the included head mount.
