>> Beam Quality

As always with Olight lights - the beam is excellent and well balanced, providing a nice wide hotspot for viewing things close and a good wide beam for distance.

 >> Power Source

The torch is powered by a single standard 1.5V AAA alkaline battery but can also use a rechargeable AAA NiMH battery.

Useful as these batteries are widely available... I prefer the Olight torches that have the rechargeable cable such as the excellent Warrior Mini - I would use the i3T as a backup option to a more powerful torch and therefore the AAA alkaline battery use here is a good option in case you don't have access to a power source. You could simply have a large pack of AAA spares in your backpack.

 >> Power Button & Modes

The power button is located on the tail of the torch.

The i3T has 2 modes - high and low.

When the light is first turned on, low mode will be activated - by soft pressing the tail power button (without fully clicking), the torch will be activated momentarily.

You can cycle through momentary low and high mode by quickly soft pressing, letting go and soft pressing the power button again.

Deep pressing (you will hear a click) will activate the torch constantly.

By deep pressing again, the torch will deactivate and if it is deep pressed a further time within 2 seconds - it will switch to the alternative mode. If it is turned on over 2 seconds after it was turned off - it will activate the default low mode setting.

>> Clip

The i3T has a detachable stainless steel clip that can be used to attach the torch to items such as a belt or rucksack.

>> Body

The body features a double helix body knurling that gives ventilation and great anti-slip grip

Conclusion

Costing a mere £19.95, the Olight i3T is a good EDC pocket torch that won't break the bank.

I would use it as a backup to my main torch... it's small enough to sit in your bag or pocket without you noticing that it’s there, until you need it.

And using standard AAA batteries is useful if you are going to be somewhere where there won't be a power source to charge a rechargeable torch - you can take loads of spare AAAs with you.
